It's all about the couple and eliminating stress
Samuel and I were initially scheduled to wed this October with 75 guests. A large majority of our guests were out of town and as the early summer months crept in I knew I couldn’t carry on with my initial wedding plans. I had initially postponed our wedding to 2021 and as time carried on I was internally struggling with the stress of continuing to plan a wedding with all of the uncertainty surrounding covid and weddings. The more I thought about it I decided to cut my original losses and start over with a new plan abiding by the CDC guidelines. I work in the wedding industry and have an eye for beautiful details and design and knew with the right vendors by my side I could curate the perfect micro-wedding.

A grand location for the ceremony, and an exquisite dinner party to follow! A must see!
I chose a handful of hard-working and kind female vendors that I knew I wanted to be a part of our intimate and special morning. We held a private morning ceremony at The Vanderbilt Mansion in Centerport, New York with only six guests that were our immediate family. I had my wonderful videographer friend capture everything for all of our extended family and friends to watch as well as a keepsake for Samuel and me. It was such a special feeling to have the grounds all to ourselves that morning. We reside in Centerport and I grew up there so it held a great deal of sentimental value.

Inside Meghan & Samuels Intimate dinner party!
Since my wedding ceremony was a reflection of timeless style I decided I wanted to do something a little bit more funky and fun for my intimate dinner party. I am fortunate enough to be friends with the owners of Huntington’s new hot spot seven Gerard and knew it would be the perfect setting for our dinner soirée. It feels like you are in a styled restaurant in New York City all while remaining in the heart of Huntington village. I then picked other local vendors who I knew would add the perfect details. I had a balloon installation draped off the balcony in shades of peaches and ivory and a tablescape styled in seasonal dry florals with mini pumpkins and candlelight. The staff of 7 Gerard attention to detail in impeccable and they didn’t miss a beat. We were surrounded by our loved ones with a wonderful three course dinner, endless champagne and live music.

The little details that made for beautiful memories
I was able to have my Father walk me down the aisle and dance to a violin and viola duo to our first dance as well as with our parents. Our favorite local bake shop baked us a beautiful two tiered mini wedding cake that we got to enjoy while having a champagne toast. Unfortunately, I don’t see covid restrictions going away anytime soon on events and if there’s anything I can show other brides during this time is that you can still create a personalized beautiful day on a small scale. The best part of a small wedding was being able to focus on our love for one another and able to splurge on all the beautiful little details.Â

With full hearts and memories made
My heart is so full and I truly feel fulfilled with my styled micro-wedding. At the end of the day I had my health (which as 2020 taught us is something to not take for granted) my family and married the love of my life under a clear blue sky on a beautiful October day. What’s most important to me is being able to say I’m married and beginning our life together as husband and wife. The world might be a weird place right now but we have each other.
A HUGE THANKS!
Thank you to Meghan, and her husband Samuel for allowing Long Island Wedding Guide to showcase such an intimate part of your journey in life together! Everything about your wedding was spectacular and so personal. Our hope is that your story can inspire, and ease the worries of couples and vendors who were unprepared for such a pivot. We want everyone to know that it is ok to go small...and that a mico-wedding can bring you more joy and less stress that you ever anticipated!
